Singer Sia revealed on Tuesday that she is now a grandmother. The 44-year-old star, famous for songs like Cheap Thrills, Chandelier and The Greatest, announced on Tuesday’s episode of DJ Zane Lowe’s Apple Music podcast, that the younger one of her two adopted sons has become a father recently.
Sharing the news on the podcast, Sia said, “My youngest son just had two babies. I’m a f**king grandma! I know, right.” She added that she was “just immediately horrified” at the news.
The Australian singer had announced just a few weeks before that she had adopted two 18-year-old kids during an interview with SiriusXM’s “The Morning Mash Up”.
“I actually adopted two sons last year,” she said in the interview. “They were both 18.”
During her chat with Lowe, the Grammy-nominated singer also revealed that her boys call her Nana. She was “trying to get them to call me Lovey, like Kris (Jenner). I’m like, “Call me Lovey.”
In the chat show, Sia shared how her first steps to motherhood had left her “jaded” about the foster care system. “It’s completely corrupt,” she said. “It’s failing us… Not in my experience, in my sons’ experience. They’ve been in 18 different locations in their 18 years.”
The singer, who prefers to keep her face covered, did not share any other details about her grandchildren.
When asked about the Black Lives Matter Movement, she said that she was embarrassed of herself as it took her to adopt two black sons to understand their daily plight.
