UEFA Euro 2020’s Denmark versus Finland game restarted at 20:38 local time (midnight in India) after being briefly suspended before the first half ended following an on-field collapse of Denmark’s attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen.
The match was suspended at a score of 0-0 after Eriksen was taken off the field on a stretcher while his teammates were seen crying in the background. However, the Danish football board later said that he was in a stable condition and has been transferred to a hospital.
Mathias Jensen, who plays as a midfielder for Premier League club Brentford, is seen replacing the Eriksen on the field.
UEFA tweeted, “Following the request made by players of both teams, UEFA has agreed to restart the match between Denmark and Finland tonight at 20:30 CET (TBC). The last four minutes of the first half will be played, there will then be a 5-minute half-time break followed by the second half.”
A video was posted from the UEFA Twitter handle showing the players walking onto the field. The post was captioned ”
Get well soon, Christian.”
