Tim David followed up his 9-ball 20 in the last match with a 44-run knock against the Gujarat Titans, helping Mumbai Indians post 177 runs at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on Friday.
The Singapore national smashed two boundaries and four sixes during his 21-ball stay at the crease against Hardik Pandya and co. David came in to bat when Mumbai Indians had lost wickets in a quick succession. He held on to one end and also gave his side the much-needed impetus in the death overs.

First, the 26-year-old put together a partnership with Tilak Varma (21). David launched Mohammed Shami for two fours at mid-off and long leg respectively. He then sent one over Joseph’s head for his first maximum before depositing a no-ball from Ferguson for another six in the 19th over.
Varma was run-out with Hardik Pandya producing a direct throw, while Daniel Sams too perished with a second-ball duck.

However, David smacked Shami for two maximums in the last over to take the team past 170-run mark.
David has now scored 64 runs in the last two matches and is unbeaten. The two innings have come when the Mumbai Indians sidelined him for several games. He was bought by the side for Rs 8.25 crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction.

“It was nice to hit a couple out of the middle, but a little bit disappointed with how we finished. We had a great start. We have come out firing with the ball, put the pressure on. We are probably a little bit short, I was just trying to get as many as we could, tried to maximise. It’s my job to finish off the innings as I’m the recognised batsman,” the hard-hitter said after the first innings.
Her further added that his focus was getting runs for the team.
