The Delhi Police on Monday confirmed it has issued a lookout notice against two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar over his alleged involvement in a brawl that led to the death of wrestler.

The incident took place at the Chhatrasal Stadium in North Delhi, with the victims allegeing they were thrashed by a group, with Kumar present at the spot, PTI reported.

  • The lookout notice was issued on Sunday evening
  • The clash between the two groups took place last Tuesday at the Chhatrasal Stadium in North Delhi
  • It broke out over an issue pertaining to vacating a flat in the Model Town area, police said
  • Three people were thrashed by Kumar and his group, of which a 23-year-old former junior national champion wrestler died. The other two have given their statement to the police, confirming that Kumar was present at the spot
  • Police said their technical surveillance also confirmed Kumar’s presence in the stadium during the brawl
  • Kumar’s group included Ajay, Prince Dalal, Sonu, Sagar, Amit and others. Prince Dalal, 24 and a resident of Haryana’s Jhajjar, has been arrested by the police
  • A case under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act
  • Police are conducting raids in the Delhi-NCR and Uttarakhand to nab Kumar
  • According to a report in the Hindu, Kumar’s location was traced to Haridwar, which changed to an Ashram in Rishikesh. He moved back to Haryana soon after, constantly changing locations to evade arrest
