Captain Amarinder Singh, following his ouster as Punjab Chief Minister, slammed party’s state unit chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, saying that he is dangerous for the state. Reiterating his intention to counter any move to make Sidhu Punjab’s CM face in the 2022 Assembly polls, Amarinder Singh said he will pit a strong candidate against him to ensure his defeat.
Amarinder Singh resigned as the chief minister of the state on Saturday following a power struggle with Sidhu, who was made the state Congress chief earlier this year despite opposition by Amarinder Singh.
In a series of interviews on Wednesday, Singh slammed Congress’ close aides for ill-advising Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
“Priyanka and Rahul are like my children…this should not have ended like this. I am hurt,” he said, adding that the Gandhi children were quite inexperienced and their advisors were clearly misguiding them.
He also went on to criticise Sidhu, calling him dangerous for the country. He said that he was was ready to make any sacrifice to save the country from such a dangerous man.

Following his resignation on Saturday, Singh had said he felt “humiliated” and expressed his unhappiness with the party leadership’s decision.
“I spoke with the Congress president this morning, told them that I will be resigning today… This is the third time in recent months in meeting MLAs… which is why I decided to quit,” he said.
“…Did they have an element of doubt that I couldn’t run the govt…I feel humiliated…Whoever they have faith in, can make them (CM), he added.
Charanjit Singh Channi has succeeded him as the Chief Minister of Punjab.
In another interview following his resignation, Amarinder Singh will not accept Sidhu as the next CM and described him as “a total disaster”.
“He is a total disaster. When he was a minister (in Amarinder cabinet), he could not even run one ministry, now can he run entire Punjab? I know that man has no capability at all,” said Amarinder Singh.
