Indian automobile company Mahindra & Mahindra has started delivering its much anticipated SUV, Thar, PTI reported on Sunday. The first car was delivered to Delhi resident Aakash Minda.
Minda had won a six-day long online auction in late September when he placed a bid of Rs 1.11 crore to receive the first vehicle of the lot. He was handed over the latest SUV on Saturday as the winner of the online auction, the company said in a release as quoted by PTI.
The winner chose the fully loaded LX petrol automatic transmission convertible variant of Thar, which was delivered to him in New Delhi, the statement said.
“I would like to congratulate Aakash Minda, as the very first owner of the All-New Thar. This is a historic moment, given the excitement the auction had created,” Veejay Nakra, CEO, Automotive Division at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. was quoted as saying.
Mahindra had announced the raising of production of the new version of Thar in mid-October, after receiving an overwhelming response. The new version of the SUV was launched on October 2.
