A powerful earthquake of magnitude 6.3 struck the Myanmar-India border region around 5 a.m. on Friday, European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said. The quake was at a depth of 30 km and struck 174km east of Bangladesh’s Chittagong.

According to Twitter users, the tremors were felt in Dhaka, West Bengal, Tripura, and Assam. 

“Felt massive earthquake tremors here in Tripura,” one person wrote. 

“6.3 magnitude??? i have never seen or felt such a huge earthquake happen!My whole life flashed infront of me,i hope everyone is fine,” a user from Bangladesh tweeted. 

“Anybody just felt shaking in Kolkata,” another person asked.
