In their first meeting, American tennis
player, Keys needed just an hour and 25 minutes to cruise into the semifinals
in the sweltering Melbourne conditions.

This was the fifth Grand Slam semifinal of
her career and her first since the 2018 US Open. Meanwhile, this is the first
time she qualified for the Australian Open semifinal since 2015.

The former world No.7 had all the answers
against 4th-ranked Krejcikova, who took a medical break in the first set
trailing 5-1, becoming this week’s first semifinalist in the process.

Keys has been in hot form in 2022 as this
was her 10th win in a row and the 11th in 2022. She registered five wins at
Melbourne Park so far. And five more at the Adelaide International 10 days ago
and one at a Melbourne tournament in the first week of the season. Adelaide
International was her sixth career WTA singles title and her first since 2019.

offseason and focus on starting fresh and new . . . starting from zero and not
focusing on last year,” Keys said in her on-court interview. “I think it’s
going well so far!”

“I was just at a very high anxiety level
all of the time,” Keys said. “I wasn’t sleeping as well. It felt like there was
literally a weight on my chest just because I became so focused and obsessed
with it that I wasn’t enjoying really anything because it’s all that I was
thinking about.”
