Rapper Travis Scott will refund Astroworld music concert attendees and he won’t perform at this weekend’s Day N Vegas Festival, which he was set to headline, according to US media reports.

Scott is listed as the headliner for November 13 three-day festival at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds, but is “too distraught” to play after eight people died and 300 more were hurt at his Astroworld festival on Friday after a crowd surge, NBC News reported.

Furthermore, the ‘Sicko Mode’ rapper said on Monday he would also cover all funeral costs for the victims and had partnered with BetterHelp to supply free one-on-one online therapy for those affected by the tragedy.

“These are the first of many steps Travis plans on taking as a part of his personal vow to assist those affected throughout their grieving and recovery process,” representatives for Scott said in a statement, NBC reported.

The chaos at the Houston festival unfolded shortly after 9 p.m. local time when a sizable group of the 50,000 in attendance pushed toward the stage at NRG Park as a timer clicked down to start the performance before the chaotic scene began to ignite.

People in the crowd reported lots of pushing and shoving during the performances leading up to Scott’s set — which is normal at his shows. He’s often encouraged fans to bypass security and rush the stage, but none of those previous situations resulted in fatalities.

Lawsuits have subsequently been filed against Scott and the organisers after Friday’s events, citing Scott’s history of urging fans to approach the stage and disobey security officers, as well as claims that he and the organisers failed to halt the event when the crowd went out of control.

Meanwhile, Kylie Jenner, who is pregnant with her second child with Scott, has said in a statement that she and Scott were unaware of what was happening in the crowd until after the show.

“Travis and I are broken and devastated. My thoughts and prayers are with all who lost their lives, were injured or affected in any way by yesterday’s events. And also for Travis who I know cares deeply for his fans and the Houston community,” Jenner wrote on Instagram Stories.

“I want to make it clear we weren’t aware of any fatalities until the news came out after the show and in no world would have continued filming or performing,” she further added.
