The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued fresh guidelines for surveillance, containment, and caution for COVID-19 that will be effective from December 1 till December 31.

The States and Union Territories are mandated to strictly enforce containment measures, SOPs on various activities, and COVID-appropriate behavior and exercise caution and regulate crowds, ANI reported.

The MHA said that the states and UTs can impose local restrictions, like night curfew only in containment zones, based on their assessment of the COVID-19 situation.

The Union Home Ministry said only essential activities allowed in Containment Zones. Local district, police and municipal authorities shall be responsible to ensure that prescribed containment measures are strictly followed, the MHA said.

The State and union territories governments need to ensure accountability of concerned officers, ANI reports.
