Singh, who was removed as the Mumbai Police commissioner and transferred last month, has claimed in his petition that Deshmukh had asked certain police officers to collect Rs 100 crore per month from hotels and bars in Mumbai.
The former cop also sent an eight-page letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, in which he claimed that Sachin Waze, a now-suspended Mumbai cop and prime accused in the Mukesh Ambani bomb scare case, was asked to collect the money.
As per the reports, the Maharashtra government will be represented by senior Congress leader and advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi in the apex court.
