The January 6 committee, which falls under the United States House of Representatives, sent out additional subpoenas to political associates of former President Donald Trump in order to expand its investigation of the storming of the Capitol complex earlier this year.

Bennie Thompson, a lawmaker from Mississippi and member of the Democratic party, announced the names of the six people who served with the subpoenas from the legislative house. According to reports from Associated Press, the list included the following individuals:

-Jason Miller, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign of 2020.

-Angela McCallum, a national executive assistant to the campaign.

-Michael Flynn, a former national security adviser to the former President.

-John Eastman, a lawyer who advised Trump.

-Bill Stepien, manager of Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign.

-Bernard Kerik, who the committee says paid for hotel rooms that served as command centers ahead of the January 6 incident.

The news comes nearly a month after Steve Bannon, a longtime ally of Trump, was held in contempt of the House of Representatives after he refused to comply with his subpoena from the panel.

Thompson, who is the chairman of the January 6 committee, said in a statement, “In the days before the January 6th attack, the former president’s closest allies and advisers drove a campaign of misinformation about the election and planned ways to stop the count of Electoral College votes”, according to reports from Associated Press. 

He added, “The Select Committee needs to know every detail about their efforts to overturn the election, including who they were talking to in the White House and in Congress, what connections they had with rallies that escalated into a riot, and who paid for it all.”

The committee has interviewed more than 150 people across government, social media and law enforcement officials, including some former Trump aides who have reportedly been cooperative.
