Taylor
Swift, the Grammy-winning singer has released the music video that she wrote
and directed for one of the 16 new songs on her eighth studio album, ‘Folklore’.
Released
Friday at the stroke of midnight, the video shows how Swift finds a portal to
other places through her piano.
The singer’s
music video opens with her playing piano in just a nightdress inside a cabin
warmed by cosy fire. She can then be seen in a forest playing atop a waterfall.
The 30-year-old singer falls into another world via her piano’s stool – a
turbulent ocean. Swift can be seen struggling to keep her head above water as she
spots her piano and can pull herself back to safety.
The music
clip then shows an oversized worn ‘Cardigan’ on the piano’s stool, as if it
belonged to a lover who wrapped it around her.
The
beautifully picturized video ends with credits celebrating those who were
involved in making it. Swift also shoutout to the onset of medics and the
people helping others during the ongoing pandemic.
After releasing her video and her new album, Swift posted on Twitter her inspiration behind the fairytale-like clip and record.
In addition to writing and directing the video, Swift did her styling and makeup for the shoot, she explained in a caption on Instagram on Thursday.
