Karti Chidambaram, Congress MP and son of former Union Minister P. Chidambaram tested positive for COVID-19, on Monday. The MP announced the news on Twitter saying that he will be under home quarantine.

“I have just tested positive for #Covid. My symptoms are mild and as per medical advice I am under home quarantine. I would urge all those who have recently been in contact with me to follow medical protocol,” his tweet read.

Senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram said in a tweet that he was doing fine in his Managiri residence. 

“Karthi Chidambaram MP isolates himself in Chennai as corona infection is confirmed. Is fine. I am fine at Managiri home in Sivagangai constituency. Thanks for all the kind questions,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, a day after Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediurappa was hospitalised with COVID-19, one of his daughters also tested positive for the virus and has been hospitalised, reported news agency PTI quoting hospital sources. 

Six staff members of Yediyurappa’s office have also tested positive, reported news agency ANI.

The Chief Minister’s son B Y Vijayendra earlier said, they would be going under home quarantine as a precautionary measure. Yediurappa in a tweet last night confirmed the news.

On Sunday, multiple political leaders including Home Minister Amit Shah tested positive for COVID-19. Shah is being treated at Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon.
