A man in West Tampa is dead after a shooting on early Saturday morning, the Tampa Police Department said. Officers arrived at the 1000 block of W. Arch Street, near Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park, at about 1:20 PM, as per authorities.
Upon arrival, they found a man suffering a gunshot wound near the street’s intersection with North Boulevard. Officers provided aid until Tampa Fire Rescue arrived, and shortly after, the man was pronounced dead.

His identity has not been released to the public yet, as officers continued to canvas the area, looking for clues as to what led to the deadly shooting. No suspect has been identified yet, and the investigation is ongoing.
Local authorities noted that witnesses to the shooting stayed on at the scene, and cooperated with investigators.
Tampa is a major business centre located along the Florida coast. The state has lax gun laws, where buyers do not require a permit to obtain a handgun, shotgun, or rifle.
In March 2022, there was a shooting at a bowling alley in Tampa that left three wounded. Fox reported one of the witnesses saying, “There were bullet shells all over the ground. There were holes in the cars, one of the windshields was shot.” At the time, the police determined that an altercation had broken out between two groups leading to shots being fired.

The owner of Pin Chasers, the bowling alley where the shooting occurred, said that they’d be reviewing security measures and were considering hiring off-duty cops to keep the establishment and its patrons safe.
In February of the same year, cops responded to a fight at the 900 block of North Franklin Street, to find one person dead, and another injured due to a shooting. They had noted at the time that the shooter was cooperating with authorities.
