Jhulan Goswami, India‘s veteran fast bowler, is playing her final international match against England on September 24 at Lord’s in London. Goswami and Harmanpreet Kaur came out for the coin toss. The World Cup in 2017 was one of the best and most exciting parts of her career, according to the pacer.

The legend has been a pillar of Indian women’s cricket for nearly two decades, and teammates, including skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, were overcome with emotion at the start of Goswami’s final ODI.

When asked about the highlight of her 20-year career, Goswami stated- “each and every moment have a lot of emotions. Lots of effort you have put in. But 2017 World Cup where our team comeback and fought, nobody gave us a [chance] that we were going to play the final. The way we played that tournament was different and from there, women’s cricket in India has slowly and gradually picked up well.”

The 39-year-old praised the BCCI, the Cricket Association of Bengal, and others in a statement prior to the game for the chance to represent the nation.

“Thank you to the BCCI and the Cricket Association of Bengal, as well as my family’s coaches and captains, for this opportunity. It’s a special occasion. I began in 2002 against England and finished in England. The most important thing is that we lead the series 2-0 ” Goswami stated.

Goswami insisted that she must keep her emotions in check ahead of her final international match.

Prior to the start of the game, Goswami was honoured with a memento in the team huddle. Harmanpreet Kaur and the other players were overcome with emotion at the prospect of Jhulu Di playing her final international match alongside them.

The England team also gave the pacer an autographed shirt as a kind gesture to honour her goodbye. She was given the shirt by head coach Lisa Keightley and interim ECB CEO Clare Connor.

India leads the series 2-0 and will try to sweep England in the third and final one-day international.9
