The 36-year-old now joins his greatest rivals Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in embracing fatherhood. Federer and Djokovic have both remained highly competitive after the birth of their children and Nadal hopes to do the same in the coming years, provided he remains injury free.
The Spanish maestro has faced several injuries in recent years, the last of which came at Wimbledon in 2022 when he suffered a torn abdominal muscle that forced him to withdraw from the tournament. He suffered the injury in the quarterfinal, which limited his ability to play against Nick Kyrgios of Australia in the semis.
However, he recuperated and participated in the US Open 2022, however, was defeated by American star Frances Tiafoe in the Round of 16. He later teamed up with Roger Federer in the latter’s final career match at the Laver Cup men’s doubles, where they were beaten by Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe on September 24.
