American singer-songwriter Brandy Rayana Norwood, popularly known by her mononym Brandy, was hospitalised with seizures on Tuesday in Los Angeles, TMZ reported. The 1999 Grammy winner in the Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group category was taken to the hospital and is believed to the still there. 

The singer has tweeted a message to her fans for all the wishes that they made for her recovery. She said: “I am following doctor’s orders and getting the rest I need due to dehydration and low amounts of nutrition.”

The TMZ report said that paramedics received a call on Tuesday about a woman suffering seizures at the singer’s home. On reaching the spot, they found out that the patient was Brandy herself.

The website also reported that the 43-year-old singer has started recovering since being admitted to the hospital. Her parents are also at the hospital by her side, it further claimed.

It is not yet clear what caused the seizure. It could either be a pre-existing medical condition or other unknown factors, that caused the singer’s seizure.

Brandy Norwood started her career in the entertainment industry in 1993 with the short-lived ABC sitcom Thea. She has since worked as an actor in at least 57 productions, according to IMDB.

However, she is best known for her work as a singer and songwriter. As a solo artist, she has seven studio albums, one compilation album and one extended play to her name. Along with that, she has also released 42 singles, 25 soundtracks and guest appearances in 46 other albums by different artists.

She has been nominated for 12 Grammy Awards and won only one in 1999 for the song The Boy Is Mine, which she recorded along with fellow American singer Monica. She has also won seven Billboards Year-End Awards between 1995 and 1998, and also one American Music award in 1996. 

Since the news of her hospitalisation broke, fans have tweeted recovery wishes for her en masse.
