Sweeney, the two-time Emmy nominated actor in a single year, will not stop
doing nude scenes, the actor told The Hollywood Reviewer. The 25-year-old whose
roles in Euphoria and The White Lotus have her riding high, doesn’t take the
high ride for granted. “If I wanted to take a six-month break, I don’t have
income to cover that,” Sweeney said, adding, “I don’t have someone supporting
me, I don’t have anyone I can turn to, to pay my bills or call for help.”

Sweeney,
who starred in the popular HBO Max show Euphoria along side Zendaya and Barbie
Ferreira, thinks Hollywood stars don’t get paid as much as they used to and
streaming is changing the entertainment industry. “They don’t pay actors like
they used to, and with streamers, you no longer get residuals,” she said,
adding that established stars still get paid.

With regard
to nudity, Sweeney’s comments have become important because staff writer Sam Levinson’s
use of sex and nudity in Euphoria has been described by a section of the audience
as a ‘bit much’. But for Sweeney, there are two reasons why she goes along with
the sex scenes and nudity.

“I fully
trust in the filmmakers that I work with, and I’m always so excited for whatever
Sam writes,” Sweeney said adding that people forget that she is playing a
character. “Oh, she gets naked onscreen, she’s a sex symbol,” is what people
say, according to Sweeney. But the Washington-based actor from a working-class
family knows she can’t get past that.

“I have no
problem with those scenes, and I won’t stop doing them, but I wish there was an
easier way to have an open conversation about what we’re assuming about actors
in the industry,” she said.
