Sudhir Suri, a Shiv Sena leader, was shot in Amritsar, Punjab. The incident occurred outside a temple in the city. Shiv Sena leaders were demonstrating outside the temple when a man named Sandeep Singh from the crowd allegedly shot Suri.

Who is Sandeep Singh, the man accused of shooting Sudhir Suri?
Sandeep Singh allegedly shot Sudhir Suri multiple times and ultimately killed him. Singh was in the crowd that was formed during the protest. Singh is currently under arrest.
“The firearm has been recovered, and additional investigation is underway,” city police chief commissioner Arun Pal Singh said, without providing any details on Singh’s motive behind shooting Suri.

Shiv Sena leaders were staging a sit-in protest against the temple authorities after some broken idols were found in trash outside the temple premises. The incident took place at Gopal temple located on Amritsar’s Majitha Road.
While Suri was being attended to by some of his supporters, others were seen firing a gun into the air.
The Shiv Sena chief was attacked while speaking with a police official. The accused, Singh fired three rounds at Suri before fleeing inside a building. He was later apprehended by police.
Suri was apparently on a hit list, and he was already protected by twelve Punjab Police officers.
Suri made news last year after being arrested on grounds of stirring religious emotions and using abusive language towards a specific demographic.

He had posted a video on social media in which he and many of his friends can be heard making disparaging remarks about the neighbourhood.
Suri, who did not run for office, was most known for his heated — and reportedly sectarian — social media rants directed against various Sikh organisations and Khalistan advocates in particular. Police have yet to make a connection.
The police are looking into the shooting.
