A massive fire broke out on the afternoon of November 5, at Fashion street near Azad Maidan in Churchgate, Mumbai, engulfing approximately 10-12 shops. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene, and the blaze has now been extinguished. According to the Mumbai Fire Brigade, no fatalities or injuries were reported in the incident and the cause of the fire is still unknown.

The road has been temporarily closed until things return to normal, the Mumbai traffic police tweeted. The fire at the shops was classified as a level 1 fire by the Mumbai Fire Brigade. BEST (Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport) representatives, Mumbai fire fighters, and a police team are on the scene and assessing the situation.

Around 1 p.m., a fire broke out in one of the shops on Fashion Street, a roadside apparel market near Churchgate, and quickly spread to some of its adjoining stores, a civic official said. “After the fire brigade was alerted about the incident, six fire engines were rushed to the spot and the blaze was put out in about 15 minutes,” the official added.

Mumbai traffic police tweeted, “A fire has broken out at Fashion Street, South Mumbai. @mybmc Fire Brigade is at the spot.
The road is temporarily closed for traffic till the situation is brought to order.”

Fire broke out in a 15-storey building in Mumbai, no casualties

Moreover, on the morning of November 5, around 9.20 a.m., the electric metre box of a 15-storey high rise building in Mumbai’s Thakurli caught fire. According to the fire officials who rushed to the scene with two fire tenders, the blaze spread across the duct comprising electric wires reaching up to the top floor of the building and releasing thick smoke all over.

According to the on-site firemen, there were no injuries reported in the incident that took place in the Sarvodaya Hills building in Thakurli, Dombivli. However, two residents who were in critical condition were transferred to a private hospital in Dombivli while 15 residents who had suffered from suffocation were taken to the Shastrinagar civil hospital.
