A 22-year-old man called Nicholas Joseph Gutierrez has been arrested by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department after he ran his car into a group of law enforcement recruits on Wednesday, which resulted in the injury of 25 individuals. Five among the injured recruits are reported to be in critical condition.
Who is Nicholas Joseph Gutierrez?
Nicholas Joseph Gutierrez, born on May 26, 2000, is the man responsible for injuring 25 LA law enforcement recruits by crashing his car into them on Wednesday morning. He is currently in the custody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and his inmate record reveals that there is no bail set for his release.

Gutierrez is 5 feet and 11 inches tall, has black hair and brown eyes, and is a resident of 450 Bauchet Street. He is currently housed at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility. Gutierrez was arrested on suspicion of an attempt to murder a peace officer. It has not yet been made clear as to whether he has a lawyer.
Gutierrez will be presented at court tentatively on Friday. He is reportedly a resident of Diamond Bar.
The 22-year-old was driving on the wrong way when the accident took place. The recruits who were in front of the group were able to escape, but the ones behind could not manage to avoid the disaster.
Initial reports suggested that Gutierrez had been subject to a breathalyzer test, but there was no alcohol found on his breath.
An officer present at the scene of the accident described it as “hard to see because these young people are getting ready to go put themselves in the line of danger in their career. And who knows that while you’re training to do that, you’re actually in harm’s way.”
