The 2023 Spanish Supercup Final between Real Madrid and Barcelona will be officiated by referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea, who has been chosen by the Spanish Football Federation.
After the notorious 2017 Spanish Supercup, where he sent Cristiano Ronaldo off for diving inside Barcelona’s box, this will be De Burgos Bengoetxea’s second El Clasico as the referee.
The second encounter between Real Madrid and Barcelona in the ongoing 2022–2023 will take place in the Spanish Supercup Final. The two clubs are vying for the La Liga championship, therefore the winner of this final may feel more confident going forward.

Who is Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea?
Born March 16, 1986, Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea is a Spanish football official referee who works in La Liga. He has been a FIFA referee since 2018 and is a UEFA first-class referee.
De Burgos Bengoetxea is a Bilbao native. Northern Spain’s industrial port city of Bilbao is encircled by lush mountains. It has a city full of skyscrapers and serves as the de facto capital of Basque Country. It is renowned for the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, which was created by Frank Gehry and opened in 1997 and ignited a revival.

De Burgos Bengoetxea started serving as a referee in the Segunda División in 2011, and he was promoted to La Liga, the top tier of Spanish football, in 2015. It is contested by 20 teams and is administered by the Liga Nacional de Ftbol Profesional, with the three lowest-placed teams at the end of each season being consigned to the Segunda División and supplemented by the top two teams and a play-off winner in that segment.
The first game he officiated was Levante vs. Celta Vigo on August 23, 2015. He presided over the first game of the 2017 Supercopa de Espaa between Real Madrid and Barcelona. He was added to the FIFA referees list in 2018. On October 10, 2019, he officiated his first senior international game, a UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying match between Belarus and Estonia.
