Due to COVID, CISCE cancels class 12 board exams

  • CISCE Board Secretary confirmed the cancellation of the class 12 exam on June 1

CISCE Board Secretary Gerry Arathoon on Tuesday said that the class 12 board exams were cancelled in view of the COVID-19 situation in the country, news agency PTI reported.

“The final decision on compiling results is yet to be taken,” news agency ANI quoted Dr G Immanuel, Chairman, CISCE, as saying.

CISCE’s announcement comes on the heels of CBSE cancelling their class 12 exams – a decision, which was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to media reports, this marks the first time of a zero-exam year for both class 10 and 12 boards.

While the Centre said that the CBSE students will be marked on objective criteria, the details of which have not been shared yet.

According to previous media reports, it is likely that the results will be based on the marks scored by students in class 9, 10 and 11 as well as the year-long performance of the student in class 12 or ISC.
