The second episode delved even deeper into Elsbeth’s background, shedding light on critical details. Most notably, a striking fan theory was confirmed—Elsbeth is indeed a Nightsister, a revelation that took many by surprise.
Morgan Elsbeth emerges as a pivotal figure in the formation of the Imperial Navy during the Galactic Empire, operating under the service of the sinister Grand Admiral Thrawn. An additional layer to her character is unveiled in the debut episode of “Ahsoka,” where the long-held speculation among certain fans is confirmed: Elsbeth is indeed a Nightsister.
In “The Mandalorian,” viewers learn about the tragic massacre that befell Elsbeth’s people, a tragedy that sowed seeds of bitterness within her. This bitterness eventually drives her to orchestrate the exploitation of planetary resources to bolster the might of the Imperial Navy.
The early episodes of “Ahsoka” cast a spotlight on Elsbeth’s journey. Her liberation from captivity is orchestrated by Baylan Skoll (Ray Stevenson) and his apprentice Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno). Subsequently, they present her with the coveted map leading to Grand Admiral Thrawn—a map previously pilfered from Sabine.
In the series’ inaugural episode, fans witness Elsbeth engaging in conversation with Skoll and Hati amid the ruins of a Jedi temple. It’s during this interaction that Elsbeth shares a significant revelation: “It was built by my ancestors, the Nightsisters of Dathomir.”
In response, Hati characterizes her as a witch, while Elsbeth asserts her identity as a “survivor,” adding depth to her enigmatic persona.
Elsbeth and Ahsoka share a history that’s as intricate as it is colorful. Their paths crossed during a significant juncture when Elsbeth held the position of magistrate within the city of Calodan. It was in this context that their encounter took place.

In their interaction, Elsbeth directly confronted Ahsoka, pressing her to disclose the whereabouts of her master, Grand Admiral Thrawn. This exchange took an unexpected turn, resulting in Elsbeth proposing a rather unconventional deal: she offered a beskar spear to Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) in exchange for eliminating Ahsoka. However, as events unfolded in “The Mandalorian,” Din Djarin’s course of action deviated from Elsbeth’s expectations. Instead of acting upon her request, he opted to alert Ahsoka, playing a pivotal role in foiling Elsbeth’s intentions.
Ultimately, this chain of events led to Elsbeth’s subsequent apprehension, underscoring the intricate interplay of characters and circumstances in the broader Star Wars narrative.
