Britney Spears returns to music, internet welcomes her back
- Britney Spears has released a duet with Elton John, titled Hold Me Closer
- Spears has finally broken free of her conservatorship
- Fans around the world cheered for the pop singer for regaining control of her life and career
Britney Spears has returned to music in her duet with Elton John, and fans around the world are praising the pop singer for the new single.
Spears, 40, has collaborated with the 75-year-old British singer on Hold Me Closer, which is a spin on John’s hit track Tiny Dancer. This is Spears’ first music since her conservatorship was terminated in November 2021. Kworb reported that soon after the track dropped online, it topped sales on iTunes across countries including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Germany, Italy, Israel and Sweden.
Spears recorded music, went on tour, and even had a Las Vegas residency throughout her conservatorship but testified last summer that she was made to work against her will during the 13-year court-ordered deal. Her legal battle with her father, Jamie, and former business manager, Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group continues. Spears has alleged that her father, who oversaw her conservatorship, along with her then-business manager took financial advantage of her. She also alleged that their behaviour toward Spears amounts to “conservatorship abuse”.

Recently, the judge sided with Spears, saying her father would have to sit for a deposition and added that the singer would not have to sit for the same.
Another fan praised Spears’ resilience, saying “She is so resilient and strong, you can feel it through her voice! Thinking about the things she went through and yet she still POWERFUL as ever!”
With the new single arriving, the #FreeBritney movement, which supported her throughout the conservatorship battle, has now started #JusticeForBritney. The pop singer is being cheered by fans all around.

“WELCOME BACK BRITNEY”, Grindr- the dating site- tweeted from its official account.
Spears’ lawyer Mathew Rosengart told Variety in a statement, “No one should be surprised that her first foray is a smash success. As I’ve said all along, Britney is a brilliant artist and iconic person. It’s been a privilege working with her. She’s been through a lot. Regardless of what comes next for her and whatever she chooses, I am so very proud of her.”
