Pedro Alonso‘s character, Berlin, also known as Andrés de Fonollosa, is the one character in Money Heist who has succeeded to make fans cry. In his introduction, he was described as the most self-righteous gang member, who always got his way. Nevertheless, what Berlin accomplished for his group after the initial heist made him one of the fans‘ favourite characters.

Berlin’s early years are mostly unknown. His mother had a relationship with another man, and the Professor is his half-brother. He was diagnosed with Helmer’s Myopathy prior to the events of the series. Berlin was a jewel thief before joining the Robbers of the Royal Mint of Spain, with twenty-seven thefts of jewellery stores, auction houses, and armoured cars to his record. Before the Royal Mint of Spain, his largest heist was 434 diamonds on the Champs-Élysées in Paris.

Though Berlin’s crew members perceive him to be arrogant, self-centred, and a psychopath, the series shows him to be extravagantly elegant, professional as well as engaging. Some of the hostages are amused by his calm demeanour and patience. They say he’s obsessed with making a good impression.

Sarcastic in his humour, He regularly mocked his crewmates and the hostages. As seen in the Part 2 conclusion, he had a great deal of respect for his fellow crew members and would do whatever it takes to save them. As a result of his illness, he had periods of depression and even suicidal thoughts.

Berlin has been married five times, but none of his marriages have been successful. He referred to these weddings as the “five times I believed in love.” He lost faith in love because he believed that after a kid is born, the mother’s focus shifts to the infant and the lady loses her “sexiness.”
