Stranger Things‘ Season 4 Part 2 – consisting of two feature film-length episodes – was released on Netflix on Friday, July 1, 2022, bringing the penultimate season of the critically acclaimed sci-fi show to an end.

Prior to the release of Part 2 on Friday, the showmakers had released a bunch of teasers, offering insights into the many twists that await viewers.

While those teasers themselves had sparked speculation about the fate of several protagonists, ‘Stranger Things’ actor Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers in the show, has now added to the buzz.

Taking to Instagram ahead of the release of the season finale, Schnapp posted a selfie of himself with the caption, “Happy stranger things finale.”

However, the selfie, as it turned out, was anything but ‘happy’ and showed Schnapp crying his eyes out with his hand on his head.

Noah Schnapps wishes fans a “Happy stranger things finale.”

The nature of the post, as well as its timing, sparked intense speculation on the internet, with many fans suggesting that it could be a spoiler pointing towards Will Byers’ death in the finale.

However, that was not all. Since the beginning of Season 4, fans had been speculating about Will’s sexuality, with many suggesting that Will was likely to come out of the closet to his best friend, Mike Wheeler, in the season finale.

With Mike already having a girlfriend in Eleven, some fans speculated that Schnapp’s selfie was a reaction to the rumoured moment in the finale.

The writer of this article, however, has chosen not to speculate on the aforementioned rumours in a bid to avoid giving out, or even hinting at possible spoilers.

The last two episodes, titled ‘Chapter Eight: Papa‘ and ‘Chapter Nine: The Piggyback’, have run-times of 85 minutes and 150 minutes respectively, and promises to provide a fitting end to the strangest and scariest season of ‘Stranger Things’ thus far.
