One COVID-19 patient can infect 406 people in 30 days if they do not follow the social distancing norms, the Centre on Monday said quoting a study by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Addressing a press conference, Dr VK Paul of Niti Aayog urged people to stay at home and wear a mask even within the family. “It’s time people start wearing masks inside their homes as well. Do not invite people into your home,” Paul said.

“Questions are being asked whether the vaccine can be taken by women during menstruation. The answer is yes, the vaccine can be taken during periods. This is no reason to postpone vaccination,” Paul said.

Meanwhile, Home Ministry Additional Secretary Piyush Goyal said that there’s no need to panic for oxygen as the central government is trying to do everything it can to fulfil the requirement.

“Absolutely no need to panic for oxygen as we are trying to resolve the issue of its transportation,” he said. “India has enough oxygen stock.”

“Many people found to be occupying hospital beds out of panic; please take admission only on doctors’ advice,” Goyal said.
