World Physiotherapy Day is
celebrated on September 8 every year. It is observed to raise awareness about
the need for physiotherapies and chronic pain therapies to keep people healthy
and active.

The day marks the unity and
solidarity of the global physiotherapy community. Physical therapists work to repair injuries and deformities,
educate patients on healthy lifestyles, and regain lost or damaged mobility.
Chronic pain has been connected to various medical conditions, including low
back pain, cervical and thoracic pain, shoulder pain, headaches, cancer,
fibromyalgia, muscular dystrophy, and osteoarthritis.

Every year, a specific theme
is chosen for World Physiotherapy Day and this year’s theme is Prevention and
Management of Osteoarthritis.

History

World Physiotherapy Day was
first observed on September 8, 1996. It symbolises the global physiotherapy
community’s unity, which was created on the same day in 1951.

Using World Physiotherapy
Day as a platform, the community hopes to assist member organisations in their
efforts to promote the profession and enhance their expertise.

What exactly is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a
non-invasive discipline that assists people in developing, maintaining, and
restoring maximal body movement and physical function.

Physical therapy can aid in
the recovery after an accident, the relief of pain, the prevention of future
injuries, and the management of chronic conditions. A physical therapist
assists patients during all stages of rehabilitation, from the initial
diagnosis to restorative and preventive therapy.

If you have an injury or
persistent pain, physical therapy can help you address the underlying issues.
It can not only relieve pain, but it can also help you make changes to avoid
future difficulties.

As joint aches become more
frequent with old age, many people seek physiotherapy to help them do daily
duties. The regular physical treatment guarantees that the body’s movement and
flexibility are not restricted and that it can function to its full potential.

You can wish your
