1. Control your portions

The portion size of your food is as important as the actual food you are eating. Serving food in small bowls and plates can help you here. Eating 3 smaller meals and having healthy snacks in between is a much better way to satisfy yourself.

2. Eat when you are physically hungry

People tend to eat even when they are full. This usually happens while binge-watching a show or having your favourite food in front of you. Listen to your body and eat only when your body wants to.

3. Switch to healthier foods

Follow the 80/20 rule of eating. Eat healthy 80% of the time and leave to 20% for times when you just want to eat something unhealthy.

4. Slow down

Eating and drinking slowly helps you to feel satisfied without feeling overfull. Your brain needs some time to register that you have consumed enough.

5. Cook more

Cooking more at home limits your fast food consumption. Shop for healthy alternatives and make delicious meals for yourself. You can also make prepare meals with leftovers so you don’t have to worry about cooking all the time.

6. Keep your snacks heavy

Eating correct snacks is very important when you are trying to make some healthy changes in your diet. Opt for nutritious dry fruits to feel satisfied throughout the day.

7. Don’t multitask while eating

Pay attention to the process of eating. You cannot enjoy your food while reading, watching, playing, walking or doing other activities.

8. Watch your drinks

We tend to forget about the drinks when it comes to healthy ‘eating’. Any drink including alcohol, soda or juices can increase your calories and they don’t even make us full. Avoid juices and start having fruits.

9. Split the meal

Splitting your meal when you are eating out is a good way to track your food consumption. You already want to eat smaller portions and spend less money, then why not?

10. Never starve yourself

The last but most important tip is to never starve yourself. Eat lighter foods if you want, but don’t cut it out completely.
