A text message followed by a lifetime of happiness: The story of Nick Jonas, Priyanka we all fell in love with

“I’m hearing from a few mutual friends that we should meet,” Nick Jonas texted Priyanka Chopra on social media, to which the “Quantico” star responded “My team can read this. Why don’t you just text me.” And with this started a love story that millennials fell in love with, vouched for, and started quoting as examples while defining their idea of perfect relationship.

According to an article in Vogue, it all started on September 8, 2016, when Nick decided to send that message that changed his relationship status forever. The two started chatting and exchanging flirtatious conversation until they met for the first time at Vanity Fair Oscar party in 2017 where Nick, without wasting time, went down on his knee and said, “You’re real. Where have you been all my life?”

The two, who till then had maintained that they are “just friends”, made their appearance together at the Met Gala in May 2017 but there was something about them that somehow confirmed their relationship.

“We have known each other so we thought let’s go together. We were both wearing Ralph Lauren…it was fun,” the actress revealed at the Jimmy Kimmel show later.

It was on June 22, 2018, Nick made their relationship official with a post on Instagram. In the story, he shared a photo of Priyanka with the caption, “Her” along with a heart-eye emojis.

On August 18, 2018, Nick shared a photo of the two on Instagram with the caption, “Future Mrs. Jonas. My heart. My love.” The couple celebrated the happy news with friends and family in Mumbai.

Priyanka and Nick were never hesitant to show their love for each other and their social media accounts are testimony to that. Soon after their engagement, Nick celebrated his first birthday as an engaged man on September 16 and Priyanka showed her fiancé some birthday love on Instagram with a peck on his cheek.

Now was the time for their wedding celebration. It was a three- day event combining both Christian and Hindu marriage traditions in Jodhpur in 2018. What made the wedding even more special was Priyanka’s long-sleeve high-neck Ralph Lauren gown and 75-foot veil. Before this, the couple hosted a puja, Mehendi ceremony, and Sangeet, which featured a dance competition between the two families, and Nick and his family were bang on.

What followed after this was receptions at different locations, honeymoons in Oman and the Caribbean, and their red carpet appearances together at different events.

Despite having an age difference of 10-years, the couple showed the world what true love is. Nick spoke on it at season 18 of the music reality show The Voice, in which he took the role of a new coach. He was teased about his age by fellow coach and singer Kelly Clarkson who told him that she was a “decade older than” him – she is 37, while he is 27 – he replied, “My wife is 37. It’s cool”.

When the Jonas Brothers made their comeback at the beginning of 2019, fan girl Priyanka was there every moment. She not only watched her hubby perform for the first time in Miami but was seen cheering and enjoying every bit of the performance of the band.
