India records 352,991 COVID-19 cases, 2,812 deaths, in highest single-day spike

India on Sunday recorded 352,991 cases of COVID-19, taking the tally of coronavirus infection to 17,313,163. A total of 2,812 people died from the disease on Sunday, taking the death toll to 195,123.

A total of 219,272 people recovered from the infection on Sunday. With this, a total of 14,304,382 have recovered from the disease. There are currently 2,813,658 active cases of coronavirus in India.

On Sunday, 1,402,367 samples for COVID-19 were tested in India, the Indian Council for Medical Research said. As of April 25, a total of 279,321,177 samples for COVID-19 have been tested in India.

Covaxin, developed at Hyderabad’s Bharat Biotech, and Covishield, manufactured at the Pune-based Serum Institute, are the two vaccines being administered in the country.
