The youngster made a brilliant start to his spell, throwing a beautiful inswinger in his debut World Cup delivery. He beat Azam due to the massive movement in the air. As soon as Indian team appealed, the umpire raised his finger to give Arshdeep Singh his first wicket. Azam immediately took the DRS, however it clearly showed that the ball pitched in line, with impact in line and the ball hitting the leg-stump.
In the same over itself, India could have sent another batter back to the pavilion. Incoming batter Shan Masood gave a slight punch in the fifth ball. The ball went straight into the hands of Virat Kohli, as he attempted to direct hit from mid-off to the bowler’s end but was unsuccessful. Masood was far beyond his crease and would have got out had it been a direct hit.
Singh, however, did not stop there as he took out the other dangerous opener, Mohammed Rizwan in his second over of the spell. The pacer beat Rizwan with an extra bounce as he hooked the ball to fine leg, where Bhuvaneshwar Kumar completed an easy catch.
