With India and Pakistan set for a high-voltage clash in the ICC T20 World Cup on Sunday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Pakistan captain Babar Azam was facing the media in the pre-match press conference today. As the rain concerns loom large on the match, Azam was asked by one journalist jokingly if Pakistan players are singing Rain Rain Go Away – the popular nursery rhyme that all children are taught in kindergarten.

The Pakistan captain came up with an epic reply to the question, saying: “Hum bacche ko koi lorie nahi suna rahe” (we are not singing a lullaby to children).

India and Pakistan will face each other in the opening match for both teams in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The Group 2 fixture will see the arch-rivals face each other for the 14th time in cricket World Cups of all formats on Sunday, October 23.

Led by captain Rohit Sharma, India will put their bid to win the tournament having not won it since winning the inaugural version in 2007 in South Africa under MS Dhoni’s captainship.

Pakistan, who lost to India in the final of the 2007 tournament, won it two years later in 2009 under the captaincy of Shahid Afridi. They have also not won the tournament ever since and will be placing a strong bid to take the trophy home this year.

The Men in Blue will have a lot of pressure on them since their dismal performance in the Asia Cup 2022 which included a five-wicket loss to Pakistan in the Super Four stage. India, however, had defeated Pakistan by five wickets in the Group Stage face-off.

While team India was knocked out of the Asia Cup 2022 after the loss to Pakistan, Pakistan went on to play in the final of the tournament eventually losing it to Sri Lanka.
