Reema Lagoo was born on June 21, 1958, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She was an Indian film actress, model, and television actress who appeared in Bollywood, Marathi, and Hindi television serials.
Reema Lagoo is perhaps the most well-known ‘mother‘ in Hindi film. She has portrayed the mother of nearly all of Bollywood’s top stars and actresses. She rose to prominence after portraying Juhi Chawla’s mother in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. After that, she portrayed Madhuri’s mother in Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Sridevi’s mother in Gumraah.
In films like Maine Pyar Kiya and Saajan, she played Salman Khan’s mother. Sanjay Dutt’s mother in Vasstav and Shahrukh’s mother in Dharma Productions’ film Kal Ho Na Ho. She was often referred to as Bollywood’s “new-age mother.” She has received four nominations for Best Supporting Actress during the course of her nearly four-decade acting career. Almost every director’s first option for the mother’s part was her.
Mandakini Bhadbhade, a Marathi actress, gave birth to her. She married Marathi actor Vivek Lagoo, with whom she had a daughter named Mrunmayee Lagoo (actress). After a few years of marriage, the couple decided to call it quits.
Reema Lagoo died in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India on May 18, 2017. She was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and died around 3:15 a.m. of cardiac arrest.
