Thanks Rohit: Virat Kohli’s 2019 tweet goes viral after MI help RCB reach IPL playoffs

Royal Challengers Bangalore have qualified for IPL playoffs for the third consecutive year, thanks to the Mumbai Indians who defeated Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets on Saturday. Following Mumbai’s victory, former RCB skipper Virat Kohli’s 2019 tweet thanking Rohit Sharma has gone on social media.
The tweet was a reply from Kohli after the MI skipper had wished him on his birthday. After Mumbai’s win on Saturday, fans brought back the tweet to life and started trending it on the platform.
For those unversed, Delhi Capitals were knocked out of IPL 2022 after Mumbai Indians defeated them in Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Saturday. With this, Royal Challengers Bangalore became the fourth side to qualify for the playoffs.
Following the game, RCB shared pictures of its players, including skipper Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli, celebrating Mumbai’s win.
“RCB qualified for the playoffs for the third consecutive year. We bring to you raw emotions, absolute joy and post-match celebrations, as the team watched #MIvDC. This is how much it meant to the boys last night,” the franchise tweeted.

Meanwhile, during the post-match presentation ceremony, Tim David, who played a crucial role in Mumbai win, shared the message he received from du Plessis.
“I got a message from Faf this morning. It was a picture of him, Maxi and Virat all in MI kit. Maybe I’ll have to post to Instagram later,” he after the game.

Rohit Sharma also congratulated Bangalore for qualifying for the playoffs.
“Congrats to them (on RCB), they have qualified, I would like to wish all the four teams all the best. May the best team win,” he said.
