According to Delimitation Commission, Sutahata Vidhan Sabha constituency ceased to exist and Haldia came into existence in 2011. It is reserved for scheduled castes candidates. Haldia municipality and Sutahata community development block fall under the constituency. It is part of Tamluk Lok Sabha constituency. Tapasi Mondal of CPM is the sitting MLA of Haldia.
