In the recently-held Indian Premier League 2022, MS Dhoni stepped down as the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja took charge of the team for the 2022 season.

As a result of the development, Jadeja became only the third player in history to lead the franchise. Dhoni had been CSK’s captain since the league’s inception in 2008 and has been full-time skipper since. Veteran batter Suresh Raina led them on a few occasions when Dhoni was rested or injured.

Dhoni, who had announced his international retirement following the 2019 World Cup, has led CSK to their fourth title last season.

Ravindra Jadeja had been handed over the captaincy but often on the field, it was Dhoni who seemed to be making the calls and changing field placements.

After the change in leadership, Ravindra Jadeja’s form had taken a dip. MS Dhoni, meanwhile, had looked in good touch with the bat and had been pretty sharp behind the wickets.
