Rohit, Rahul get off to flying start, guide India to fastest 50 vs Pakistan

Openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul guided India to a flying start against Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday. The pair added 50 runs in 26 balls, which is the fastest first-wicket fifty stand in an India vs Pakistan game. 

India were 62/1 after the powerplay – theie highest total in the first six overs against Pakistan. After being put to bat, Sharma and Rahul attacked the opponent pacers from the very first over. Naseeem Shah was taken for 11 runs. The 19-year-old pacer was smashed for two sixes by KL Rahul and India were 34/0 at the three-over mark.

Skipper Rohit Sharma then hit two consecutive boundaries – four and six – off Haris Rauf. However, the fast bowler got rid of the 35-year-old in the sixth over. The opener went after a good length ball outside off. He managed to spoon it high in the air for Khushdil to take a catch. 

Sharma scored 28 runs off 16 balls with the help of three boundaries and two maximums.

Spinner Shadab Khan dismissed KL Rahul in the seventh over. The vice-captain came down the pitch to take on a tossed up ball. However, he handed a catch to Mohammad Nawaz at long-on. He made 28 runs off 20 balls. 

Suryakumar Yadav scored 13 runs off 10 balls before getting out to Nawaz. At the 12th over mark, Virat Kohli was batting at 25 off 19 balls with Rishabh Pant at the other end. 

India were 110/3.
