Playing against Sunrisers Hyderabad, MS Dhoni became the most capped player in the IPL and completed 4500 runs in the T20 league during his innings of 47 runs.

MS Dhoni coming out to bat at No.5 was a sight for sour eyes as Chennai Super Kings were struggling to chase the 165-run target at more than 10 runs per over.

The CSK skipper, who had earlier walked out as the most capped player in the Indian Premier League with 194 appearances, had to play a typical Dhoni innings to avoid the wooden spoon on the points table. However, with Kedar Jadhav and Ravindra Jadeja falling at the other end and the Hyderabad spinners bowling phenomenally Dhoni had to keep calm scoring the first 28 runs at run a ball.

However, with the required run rate touching 20, the former Indian captain attempted the maximums he is known for. With Dhoni on the pitch, trying hard to get Chennai’s second win of the season, a layman would only see a player tired and struggling to run through the 20 overs.

The Chennai Super Kings lost the match by seven runs, Ravindra Jadeja top scoring with 50 runs followed by MS Dhoni’s 47.

To summarise the evening in a sentence, MS Dhoni’s record driven night was overpowered by some brilliance coming from young Indian talent namely Priyam Garg, Abhishek Sharma and Abdul Samad.
