Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) sealed their second win of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2020, beating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by seven runs.

CSK’s diminishing prospects were kept alive by a superb fifty from Ravindra Jadeja after SRH asserted control in their defence of the 164-run total as they cheaply dismissed men-in-form Ambati Rayudu and Faf du Plessis.

Kedar Jadhav soon followed as he was caught by skipper David Warner at covers.

Earlier, pacer Bhuvaneshwar Kumar struck in the first over to pile further misery on CSK opener Shane Watson, who chopped a wide delivery back on to the stumps to continue his poor start to IPL 2020.

Priyam Garg scored his maiden fifty in the IPL and Abhishek Sharma pitched in with a well-made 31 from 24 balls as the two pulled SRH out from a precarious position to a strong finish.

A disastrous 11th over for SRH saw skipper David Warner dismissed followed by a mix-up between Kane Williamson and Priyam Garg, which resulted in the Kiwi being run out.

Deepak Chahar struck early for CSK, removing England international Jonny Bairstow in the first over to give skipper MS Dhoni the perfect start.

They continued to put pressure on the SRH batsmen, starving them of loose deliveries, which eventually accounted for Manish Pandey’s wicket, who punched a full length delivery from Shardul Thakur straight to Sam Curran at mid-off for an easy catch.

SRH skipper David Warner won the toss and elected to bat.
