IPL 2022: Trent Boult credits James Neesham for masterminding KL Rahul duck
- KL Rahul got out for a duck in the RR vs LSG match on Sunday
- Trent Boult credited James Neesham for his idea on how to take Rahul out of the game
- RR won the match by 3 runs
KL Rahul‘s duck against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday was not a chance outcome, but an orchestrated move masterminded by two New Zealanders that helped their team triumph over the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Commenting on the wicket after the end of the match, Trent Boult told the press that it was his compatriot James Neesham’s idea to go around the wicket to Rahul that helped the RR team to get the 29-year-old out at zero.

“It was a late call, taken this morning. I don’t want to give Jimmy Neesham too much credit but it was his idea,” said Boult after the match.
“My role with the new ball is to take as many wickets as possible. It’s a pretty simple game for me at the top and get it to swing. The humidity and the overheads assisted it. Limited English from Kuldeep, he runs in hard though. He executed it well in the end and he is only going to get better. Some quality fast bowling in our side and in the tournament going around. I’ll probably watch my batting before my bowling,” the 32-year-old bowler added with a big grin on his face.

The RR’s win over LSG by three runs on Sunday saw the Jaipur-based franchise take the top spot in the IPL 2022 table, with three wins, 6 points, and a net run rate (NRR) of +0.951. Second and third on on the table are Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) respectively, but neither have a NRR as high as RR.
LSG, meanwhile, are fifth on the table after their loss to RR, and will be looking to get back to winning ways in the days to come.
