JK Dobbins is back: Ravens RB scores 2 touchdowns in first quarter vs Bills

Baltimore Ravens had a terrific start to their Week 4 against the Buffalo Bills as they ran away with a 14-3 lead against their rivals at the end of the first quarter. J.K Dobbins, running back for the Ravens scored two touchdowns for the team during that time, one from a pass from star QB Lamar Jackson and another in the form of a rushing one.

In the first scoring drive, the running back caught a shovel pass from Jackson near the Bills’ endzone, to score his first touchdown after missing the entirety of the 2021 NFL Season. He missed time last season due to a torn ACL injury that he suffered in the pre-season game against the Washington football team.

For the second TD, which came just at the end of the quarter, he took the ball from Jackson, running into the endzone to complete his second one of the night. 

He also became just the second player in franchise history to the first player in franchise history to score both a rushing and receiving touchdown in any one quarter. Ray Rice did so in the 2nd quarter of a 2010 game against the New Orleans Saints, which the team ended up winning 30-24.

The running back missed the first two games of the season, still recovering from the injury and made his season debut against the New England Patriots in Week 3, closing the game with seven carries for 23 yards.

Dobbins was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He later signed a 4 year, $5,729,436 contract with the team, including a $1,726,862 signing bonus, $2,597,291 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $1,432,359. Prior to joining the NFL, he played for the Ohio State University’s Buckeyes football team from 2017-19.
