Mohammad Salah missed a chance to fire Liverpool to a 3-0 lead against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Monday at Villa Park. He made a solo run dribbling past Douglas Luiz to create a one vs one situation with the Villa goalkeeper.

However, he missed the chance to score from point-blank range as the goalkeeper spread himself to block his shooting angle.

The match was end-to-end throughout with both teams creating several chances to net. However, Liverpool came out on top with three goals to only one from Aston Villa. Salah, Virgil Van Dijk, and Stefan Bajcetic scored one each for Liverpool while forward Ollie Watkins scored the only one for Villa.

Villa tried to salvage a point from the match by bringing on Danny Ings and Phillipe Coutinho in the final minutes, but that did not help their cause much.

With this win today, Liverpool has made it to the 6th spot in the Premier League, their highest in this season after a bad start to the first half of the season earlier.

However, the bad form of their newly signed striker Darwin Nunez will be a cause of concern for the Merseyside club.

In spite of many chances to score a goal, the Uruguayan striker failed to score in the match, a repetition of the show he put up earlier in the EFL Cup against Manchester City.

He was also trolled heavily on social media as fans said the price tag did not match the show he put up on the pitch.

Liverpool will play Leicester City next on Saturday, December 31st while Aston Villa will play Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, January 1st.
