India started their match against Australia in spectacular fashion as two heavy-hitting Aussies were sent back to the pavilion in quick succession, thanks to brilliant efforts by Virat Kohli and Axar Patel.

Patel’s short ball was hit by Cameron Green towards the mid-on where Kohli was present. The former India captain threw the ball directly at the stump, which resulted in Green’s dismissal. Check out the video right here:

Patel’s performance in the second and third overs was brilliant as he managed to bag the scalps of Glen Maxwell and Tim David in spectacular fashion. He bowled the two of them in quick succession and gave India a solid advantage in the match.

India’s hopes were further boosted when Jasprit Bumrah, who took over bowling duties after Patel, didn’t waste time and bowled out Aussie captain Aaron Finch in the very next over.

The second T20I match between India and Australia was cut short before it began due to weather conditions. The pitch was wet, and the match that was scheduled to start at 7:00 PM ended up starting at 9:30 PM. The match will now be played in an eight overs-a-side format.

India lost the previous match against Australia in Mohali despite putting up 208 runs on the board. The Australians answered in spectacular fashion, putting up 211 runs on the board with four balls remaining.

It was Green who managed to score 61 runs in the match, his innings playing a huge part in India’s defeat. Kohli did manage to get his revenge on the 23-year-old today, by running him out when he had only managed to score five runs in four balls.

India are playing a three-match T20I series against Australia before the T20 World Cup commences in October. The team that wins this series will have a huge confidence boost ahead of the ICC tournament.
