Four critically injured in shooting outside Minneapolis liquor store

Minneapolis residents were left shocked when a shooting incident outside the Merwin Liquor store left four people critically injured on Friday, September 2, 2022. The shooting incident happened in the evening outside Merwin Liquors, which is at the corner of the North Lyndal and West Broadway avenues.

The Minneapolis Police Department said that its officers received a report of a shooting incident in the area and responded immediately to find two men and two women lying on the ground, gravely injured, sometime after 7 pm local time.

Emergency services arrived at the scene immediately and transported the victims to a nearby hospital, where they are currently fighting for their lives. The liquor store, outside of which the incident took place, has been a frequent place of similar violent crimes in the recent past.

The police were called to 700 West Broadway, which is the Merwin Liquors. More details regarding the conditions of the four victims were not revealed.

According to the investigating officers, a fight that took place inside the store continued in the parking lot, following which several suspects got into a car. According to eyewitnesses, while the car drove off, gunfire erupted from the vehicle itself.

“Preliminary information indicates that a fight occurred inside the business and then spilled out into the parking lot. Some from the crowd entered a vehicle. Reports indicate that shots were fired from that vehicle as it left the area,” a spokesman from the Minneapolis Police Department said.

The police have not made any arrests related to the shooting incident till now.

Recent reports have revealed that the Merwin Liquor owners were searching for a new location for their store in the city and even contacted the city officials for assistance in identifying a new site.

Another shooting incident that took place in front of the store in June last year left one dead and another with life-threatening injuries.
