Brian Stelter, the anchor of CNN’s Reliable Sources programme, is leaving the company as the media news show, which began in 1993, is airing its last episode on August 21, being the latest to go on the block since Discover and Warner Bros merged.

“We appreciate his contributions to the network and wish him well as he embarks on new endeavours”, CNN’s statement says.

Who is Brian Stelter?

Stelter is a 36-year-old American TV anchor. He has been CNN’s chief media correspondent, apart from hosting the now-axed Reliable Sources. He was formerly a media reporter for The New York Times and was the editor for TVNewser.

Stelter was born on September 3, 1985, in Damascus, Maryland, to Donna and Mark. He was raised Methodist but is non-religious. Stelter attended Damascus High School, and graduated in 2003, before going to Towson University, where he was the editor-in-chief of The Towerlight from 2005 to 2007.

TVNewsert was Stelter’s creation as a student, which he eventually sold to Mediabistro. The blog about cable and television news eventually became a part of the Adweek blog network.

Stelter graduated college in 2007 and then joined NYT at the age of 22, as a media reporter. He joined CNN in 2013. His news show often took on Donald Trump, during his presidency.

Brian Stelter dated Nicole Lapin, the CNBC anchor, in 2011, and agreed not to cover CNBC during their relationship. Stelter married Jamie Shupak, traffic anchor for NY1, in February 2014.

The two married in a Jewish ceremony and plan to raise their children according to Shupak’s faith. The couple’s daughter was born in May 2017 and they had a son in August 2019.
