Sanna
Marin
, the 36-year-old Finnish Prime Minister’s partying video has social media
divided. While many found Marin’s dancing and partying unbecoming of a prime
minister, there were others who found nothing wrong with it. A video of Sanna
Marin dancing and partying was leaked online earlier this week. On Thursday,
Marin hosted a press conference where she said she had not done anything
illegal and lambasted the publisher of the video for publishing footage from a
private event.

The footage
was first published by Visegrad 24, according to a Newsweek report. The video,
that has been shared over a million times on social media, was captioned: “She
has previously been criticised for attending too many music festivals &
spending too much on partying instead of ruling.”

Americans
have had a lot to say on the Finnish PM’s video. Many Americans found similarities
between Sanna Marin’s dancing video and a video of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortex,
the New York Democrat. When Ocasio-Cortez’s video surfaced online and was
criticised, she responded to it with more dance writing: “I hear the GOP thinks
women dancing are scandalous. Wait till they find out Congresswomen dance too!”
Her tweet came with a video of her dancing outside her new office on Capitol
Hill.

Twitter
user @KatriBertram called Sanna Marin’s video a “bit of an AOC moment”. “They
must have thought everyone is going to see she’s a fool. It was adorable
though. I’m sure the same will happen here,” wrote Reddit user @dujiminol.

Meanwhile, there
were those in Britain who compared the video of Sanna Marin dancing to that of British
Prime Minister Boris Johnson
dancing to “All Night Long” by Lionel Richie.

Sanna Marin
was appointed Prime Minister in 2019. She was imbued in a controversy regarding
partying in December 2021 when she was spotted at a nightclub after a colleague
of hers tested positive for COVID-19. She said she did not receive text alerts
asking her to isolate. She later apologised for poor judgement.
