Imran Khan shooter says former Pakistan Prime Minister was misleading people
- A video has emerged of Imran Khan's shooter confessing to his crime
- He says he had been planning for it since Friday, when the rally began from Lahore
- The attacker was tackled by a PTI supporter before being arrested
The attacker who shot at former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been apprehended by the police. According to a recorded interview of the perpetrator, he had fired upon Khan’s rally in Wazirabad because the former PM was misleading people.
In the video shared by GeoTV News, the attacker says that he had been planning to shoot Khan since he began a rally from Karachi on Friday.
His exact statement was, “I did this because he was misleading people. I couldn’t take it. I had decided to do this the day he started the rally”.
The shooter revealed that he had come to Wazirabad on a bike and had parked it at his uncle’s shop.

He also says that he wanted to kill Khan only, and did not intend to harm anyone else present. In the video, the shooter can be heard saying, “Sirf Imran Khan ko maarna tha (I came only to kill Imran Khan)”.
Khan, 70, was immediately placed inside a bulletproof police van and was taken to a hospital. He is currently out of danger. He was taking part in a campaign rally after being voted out of power in the April 2022 elections.

Raoof Hasan, one of Khan’s senior aides, said, “This was an attempt to kill him, to assassinate him,” in an interview with AFP.
Although the shooter said that he had acted on his own accord, his statement being, “Nobody was behind me, nobody is with me”, latest reports have revealed that he did have an accomplice. While one of them fired using an automatic weapon, the other one used a pistol. According to Hasan, the second shooter was killed. Name of the person who shot him dead has not been revealed yet.
